MISSION STATEMENT
Street Smart Youth Project actively engages under- resourced minority youth in structured, community-based programs in order to involve, prepare and empower them for growth and healthy living as adults, with an emphasis on prevention regarding delinquency, substance use, and HIV. Street Smart Youth Project delivers programs via behavioral and public health strategies. Our mission is a model of empowerment through change and opportunity. Street Smart Youth Project offers opportunities that allow participants to Transcend, Transform, and Take Flight.

SSYP is a National Family Partnership affiliate. NFP is a national leader in drug prevention education and advocacy. The mission is to lead and support our nation’s families and communities in nurturing the full potential of healthy, drug free youth.

The median age at which children begin drinking is 12 (NIDA, 2002). Young people who begin drinking before age 15 are four times more likely to develop alcohol dependence than those who begin drinking at age 21. (CADCA, 1996) & (NIAAA, 2002). Will you help to change these statistics?
